Sri Kumara Gurupara Swamigal Arts College was established in the year 1961, named after the great Saint Kumara Guruparar Swamigal. Thiruvalarthiru Kasi vasi Arulnandhi Thambiran Swamigal, the then Head of Sri Kasi Mutt, Thirupanandal is the founder of the college. The college is located at Padmanabamangalam, a small remote village near Srivaikuntam in Thoothukudi-district. The college is governed by Sri Kumara Gurpara Swamigal Educational Agency with ‘Kailai Maamunivar’ Sri-La-Sri Kasivasi Muthukumaraswamy Thambiran Swamigal, the present Head of Sri Kasi Mutt, Thirupanandal as President, Srimath.Thirugnanasambandha Thambiran Swamigal as Vice-president, Honorary Secretary and eleven members.
The college is Re-accredited with ‘B’ Grade by NAAC and is affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli.

The college Academic Council consisting of the Principal and the Heads of various Departments monitor the administration of the college. This council meets regularly to monitor the academic activities of the College. Various committees are constituted to address the Students’ issues.

The college is governed by Sri Kumara Gurpara Swamigal Educational Agency with President, Vice-president, Honorary Secretary with eleven members. The Committee proposes suggestions and guidelines for the smooth and effective functioning of the College. The Secretary acts in accordance with the decisions of the Management Committee. The Principal submits his administrative reports to the Committee and acts according to the advice of the Secretary.

                  Students should maintain the discipline and decorum of the college by following the rules and regulations with due respect.

      • Students should come to their classes regularly without causing disturbance to other students.
      • Students should earn good name and same to the college by their decent behaviour inside class rooms, during college functions and while travelling to college.
      • Students have to safeguard the belongings of the college and also see to that the college campus is neat and clean. Penalty will be imposed if the belongings of the college are destroyed.
      • Students should not conduct any meeting or collect money inside college campus without prior permission of the principal.
      • Students are not supposed to come as a gang to report or complaint about any matter to the principal.
      • Students should not smoke or drink alcohol and use abusive drugs.
      • Students should not involve themselves in activities connected with politics or communal and religious activities.
      • Disciplinary action will be taken against those who do not obey the above mentioned rules and regulations by observing the rules of the natural justice.


      The institution is functioning as per the Tamil Nadu Government Private College regulations act 1976. The teaching faculties are recruited as per the UGC guidelines and minority rights of the Institution. In addition to that the rules and regulations are framed by Sri Kumara Gurupara Swamigal Educational Agency in consonance with the service rules of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
